Things were going rough for the NN lately, adding Burke’s little love affair didn’t make it easier for her to handle. Without telling the team or Lenette, she left the house. She knew that going far would be a bad idea, but the weather was nice, it was almost sunset, it just seemed better to be farther away. After a while of exploring she stopped at the edge of a tallish building to watch the sunset for a bit.
While she was sitting there James came by. He was on a patrol. After becomming mayor he didn't do that so often, but today he was just out checking how things was going. He spotted Burke on the building
James snuck up closer and she didn't seem to notice him. When he was about one meter from her he pulled up the tazer Burke heard the footsteps and turned around just in time to kick the tazer from his hand. The kick came so sudden, and James was unprepared, and though the kick wasn't perfectly aimed, the tazer flew out of his hand.
Burke wasn't good at fighting, so in the time the cop was distracted by losing his tazer she turned and ran, not towards the hideout, but deeper into the city. She wasn't about to give up their hiding spot.
When Burke ran away James knew he would have to folow her, leaving the tazer behind. He didn't belive she would go for the hideout, but he knew folowing her for long enough would make her fight. And James knew he would be able to win that fight. The only problem was if she ran to other runners, and they would outnumber him. But knowing Burke the others probably didn't know she was out.
After a while Burke became desperate and looked for places someone could easily get lost in. She dashed across a busy street and straight up into a motel's hall way, but the cop kept up really well. When they left the building, it was an open parking lot and some more roads. Burke turned around to face the pursuer.
"Finaly" James thought, when he saw Burke turn. He kept running, and just before hitting her he jumped, and tried to land a bicyle kick in her face.
Burke ducked and attempted a spin kick to knock the pursuer off his feet.
The kick missed, as James had so much speed he flew out of her range. Before hitting the ground Jame turned his bodey 180 degree, folowed by a backwards skillroll. This acrobatic move James had used a lot of time practising, and he did it to perfection. The two fighters looked at eachoter for just a second, then they aproched eachother again.
Burke was shocked by his move, she recognized it, and suddenly became a little suspicious, but she'd wait before a nice little reunion to make sure it was who she thought it was.
James tried a roundhouse kick. It was a very standard PK tecnique, and he expected Burke to dodge it, but she seemd to think about something, and didn't react fast enough, and only half dodged it, getting hit in the face, not badly, but still a hit.
Burke shook her head, the blow caught her off guard and her vision was thrown off a bit. Time to pay attention, she sighed and went to punch the cop in the face.
She got two good hits, but on the third attack James dodged, and used Burke's own momentum to throw her over his right shoulder. She landed on her stomach.
Winded, Burke had a little trouble getting up. She turned around to face the attacker, but she felt the ground moving, and knew it was time to take it easy. She looked around for a place to run, this would be harder than she had expected. "James?!"
James turned around. His hand grabbed where the tazer used to be, but he didn't get anything. It was still on the roof they started on. "Damn" he thought. If he had the tazer he could just paralyze Burkes muzzles, and get a cop car to take her to the prison. Instead, he had to keep beating on her till she couldn't move.
Burke panicked. "James what are you doing?!" She backed up, he wasn't about ready to stop. Burke went at him again, then looked as a garbage truck approached the lot. To make it seem like it wasn't givig her any ideas, she continued to face James.
James tried to kick Burke again, but she dodged, and places two fast punches on James. He kicked low, and hit Burkes leg, throwing her just a little out of ballance, but giving James just time enough to throw make a backflip-kick. He hid Burke in the chest, but because of his own injuries he got a bit dizzy from the jump
Burke couldn't take anymore or she'd be on the ground. She turned and sprinted. She couldn't think of a place to go, but sprinting was better than taking hits.
James took up the chase again "Shes loosing" the thought. James could hear Burke began to talk. "The radio!" James thought. Maybe she was telling the others where she is? or maybe it was just bluff? He could't hear the words, but he clearly heard she was talking in the mic. James kept on following her. He thought it was just bluff.
Burke became frantic, at this point she thought it was over, but a black corvette pulled up onto the sidewalk and rolled down the window. "GET IN NOW," Lenette screamed out the window. Burke ducked into the car and it tore off before the door was even shut.
"DAMN IT!" James shouted. He turned on the CPF channel in the helmet mic. "I need tracking of a black corvette!" James told his position, and the cars numberplates (or W/E they are called in english.. I have no idea) "The car is heading south, and contains Burke; a "red" runner, and an unidentified driver." A chopper was nearby and tried to follow it.
Lenette kept the extremely tinted windows shut so they wouldn't see who it was. She couldn't look back to see the chopper because she was driving at 110 mph. "Lei, can you watch the chopper?" Burke looked back, but she was nearly unconcious now. "Ahhhh man, girl. Just tell me if it causes any trouble, but don't get to worked up you're gonna knock yourself out." Other cars swerved to dodge the maniac corvett and the highway patrol went after then. "Ah guys, stop it!" She whined, though the patrols couldn't hear her. "I GOT A BABY ON BOARD!" She swerved through an alley, nearly hitting the wall on the other side, a few hobos looked up from their sitting spots. The highway patrol lost them, but the chopper was keeping up pretty good.
James headed back to where they started, to find the tazer. He reached the house, and after looking some time for the tazer he finally found it. He asked how the chase was going, and where they were. They appeared to be quite nearby. "Set up roadblock, try to get them near me!
The highway patrols were waiting for Lenette when she exited the alley, and she swerved to dodge a car that had just been driving past. She looked at the signs, it was a one way street, and she turned in the right direction to keep flowing with it. Other cars pulled over as the Highway patrol turned on their siren. "Watch the-" Burke had fallen unconscious. "Sh*t nevermind." Sometimes highway patrols had ways of stopping cars. She pulled in front of a car who decided it wasn't a good time to pull over so it was between her and the patrol cars. "Keep us safe, bud..." The other driver looked furious, but didn't move. A team was setting up road blocks in the distance, so Lenette turned the vehicle sharply. It skid for a long time, two wheels went about seven inches off the ground, and she made the complete 180 and ducked into another alley, losing the highway patrol. She looked for the chopper.
"We lost the black corvette" the chopper was hovering in the area where it had disappeared. James and patrol-cars was told where it was last seen. The patroles chekked the area. They finally found the car, but it was empty.
