Pre-note: after discussing with Wray, I've decided to post relevant NPC characters that appear in The Alluvian Connection in the character thread so that they can be thought about, used, etc. in our role-play. Many (most) of these characters are incomplete, as they are fleshed out mainly to provide information in the story for which they were created. Other players please feel free to flesh them out as you see fit - just remove the coffee stains and computer glitches.
Unless recommended otherwise, I will be appending this post as new NPCs appear (there will of course be more of them). If any get sufficiently developed to need their own character threads, we can make them.
Name: [obscured by smudge], nicknamed 'Crag'
Age: would be 25
Gender: Male
Height: 5'11"
Weight: approx. 180 pounds
Affiliation: NCO
Wanted for questioning
Possible criminal activity, to be exonerated as was likely on behalf of NCO operating against NN
Status of criminal activity of Drs. Jay and Elanor Normal, and their former student Sally Jones, in contracting Runner Faith Connors
Status: Unknown, possibly deceased.
Appearance: Dark brown hair and brown eyes, bears distinctive scars on his lip and nose where jewelry were extracted by CPF officials in the past. Prefers to dress in dark colors and grays, preferring t-shirts, sweatshirts, and jeans. Last seen without facial hair.
Personality: Sullen, cynical, willing to work for anyone for pay but lacking in effective skills in personal communication, technical skills, education, or athletic ability, [name whited out] appears to enjoy cultivating his image as a gang member. He has, however, been very useful as a spy for law enforcement and surveillance agencies in bringing down other criminal groups by infiltration and spying.
History: [mound of gibberish created by printing error] attempted to train with NN tracker 'Mercury' (see file), but was rejected for his lack of athletic ability. [more gibberish] hired him to pursue a Runner carrying biological cargo to a faculty member at King Minos University eight years ago. The Runner in question is believed to have been Faith Connors, and the faculty member(s) were probably Jay and/or Elanor Normal, with the true recipient of the cargo being Sally Jones. He followed the Runner to near the drop point, but [obscured by data error]
Skills: Disguise, especially as a gangster or other criminal; passable, but not professional, parkour skills (proved badly inferior to those of Faith Connors while attempting to pursue her); reasonably competent in practical pistol marksmanship
Weaknesses: Lack of most skills in interpersonal relationships, and lack of talent in athletics (especially parkour) prevent him from functioning in anything beyond his established role.
Likes: money; his image as a gangster.
Dislikes: no particular dislikes known.

Name: Douglas James Earlsberg
Age: 36
Gender: Male
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 174 pounds
Affiliation: NN
Wanted for:
Collusion with Runners (New November), notably the Runner/tracker known as 'Leaf', possibly also Faith Connors;
Probable terrorist activities;
Sabotage and espionage against City defense projects;
Treason, namely supplying information on City defenses and security to hostile and potentially hostile nations
Appearance: Dark hair, dark brown eyes, and a solid mass of muscle despite his otherwise outwardly pudgy appearance. When last seen among compatriots, he wears something resembling a cobbled-together military outfit, but not an actual uniform, preferring olive green.
Personality: Bitter, cynical, and cold, he styles himself a freedom fighter for the New November, to which he has largely given his life, much as Libertas founder Abraham Connors did long ago. However, he still has his group of men and women loyal to him, although even he seems now to be holding out for a hero.
History: Earlsberg's origins are largely unknown, although it is believed that he took part in a terror attack by his predecessor, Joseph Mires, immediately following the November Riots, in which he would have been a minor. After Mires was killed in a SWAT raid , Earlsberg took over Mires' resistance cell and has led it ever since. Earlsberg seems to be either less brazen or more subtle than his predecessor; the CPF, PK, and SSS have all attempted to locate him, but in all cases in which he has been located, he has managed to escape unnoticed before apprehension forces could arrive. This is partially because he chooses to live in City outskirts where the wave of modernization has not yet arrived, or, as is presently suspected, out of City limits entirely, on the mainland. Occasional terror attacks have been attributed to Earlsberg, but his actions seem more directed at aiding and abetting more serious threats: foreign nation states that he hopes will invade the City and depose the New City Order by force. The list of nations that Earlsberg is believed to have contacted include the Argentina, Alluvia, Australia, Britain, France, India, Israel, Russia, and the United States. It is unknown how much, if any, success, is likely to come from his envoys; more worrisome is the possibility that any state that does choose to invade may have inside knowledge of the City's defensive measures.
Skills: Outstanding records in administration, stealth, and paramilitary leadership. He has never been known to take part in these operations, however, so how own combat prowess is unknown and probably neither exceptional nor absent relative to our SWAT forces.
Weaknesses: Extremely focused to the point of unwillingness to consider courses of action beyond those he has chosen to pursue, and has (thankfully) limited resources, although still enough to continue inserting and learning from spies, at least as of three years ago.

Memo: Profile for Sally Jones
By order of the: New City Government
Name: Sally Jones
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 131 pounds
Affiliation: NN, possibly also Alluvia
Wanted for:
Collusion with Runners (New November);
Pursuing scientific research into biological systems not part of the vision of the New City (World) Order;
Murder of Silvine and Golden Shield security agents sent to apprehend her;
Treason in aiding a faction planning the violent overthrow of the New City Order (Alluvia)
Appearance: Blonde hair usually cut to shoulder length, blue eyes, highly athletic figure. Is often seen wearing white or other light-colored clothing, but prefers green and brown while traveling.
Psychological Profile: Adventurous, independent, seemingly fearless, and insatiably curious, Jones is(was) known among her peers as a highly personable, likable person, but who greatly enjoys(ed) her profession of a research scientist. Her reasons for opposing the New City Order largely stem from sympathies with Libertas: her independence, and her misplaced admiration for life forms of the past.
History: Born on the mainland currently under the City's protectorate, but at the time not part of the City, Sally Jones is the great granddaughter of a famous American adventurer-archeologist, professor, and museum curator of the 1930s through 1960s, and much of her personality, not to mention her adventures, reflect this ancestry. She got a bachelor's in biology overseas at the University of Florida in the United States, and came here to the City to study at King Midas University from [timeline = Mirror's Edge comic to Mirror's Edge game], at which point she graduated with a Ph.D. in evolutionary biology. She is currently employed as a post-doc, at [smudged name of a university overseas]. Jones is currently married to [name obscured by coffee stain], and has been since her last year here in the City.
Nearly all of Jones' criminal activity is related to her scientific research in California, China, and elsewhere. This research has immense practical implications for realizing states of existence containing alternate histories, in particular, one that would replace the New City Order with that of a brainchild of Libertas, a nation-state called Alluvia. So far, attempts to apprehend her at her field sites or learn and exploit the secrets she studies before she does have failed, despite the best efforts of agents of City security firms (S.S.S., G.S.), as well as Russian and Chinese agents and soldiers. In fact, she is disturbingly similar as an action heroine to her great grandfather, which is particularly frightening in the light of the trouble he caused contemporary totalitarian governments.
Jones has not been seen in the City since the Connors sisters' attack on the Shard.
Skills: Athletics, biology, a not insignificant amount of martial arts and other basic combat techniques, can drive/fly a variety of different vehicles, and is extremely resourceful in using her surroundings in combat. Exercise caution.
Weaknesses: No exploitable weaknesses to date have been found, which does not mean they do not exist. She does not seem good at deception in social situations, but so far, this has not hindered her.
Likes: Science, nature, history, freedom
Dislikes: Artificialness

Memo: Profile for Elanor Normal
Name: Elanor Normal
Age: 57
Gender: Female
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 129 pounds
Affiliation: Unknown, likely NN, possibly Alluvia
Under special surveillance for:
Probable past and likely present associations with New November (NN) and possibly Alluvia;
Possible conspiracy to perpetrate terrorist attacks and/or treason (namely, aiding in an Alluvian takeover of the City)
Appearance: Long, straight, gray hair (formerly blonde), blue eyes, prefers to wear blouses and pants of pastel colors.
Personality: Personable, but in recent years increasingly withdrawn, but still able to teach at her university position.
History: Born in the United States and was a member of Vitalia before emmigrating to the City and participating in the early days of Libertas, she, together with her husband Jay Normal, acquired faculty positions at King Minos University (her in biology, him in geology), and studied evolutionary biology and natural processes of extinction, as well as conducted research into the guiding tendencies of evolutionary lineages predicted by some of Vitalia's findings. Their student, Sally Jones, is currently wanted for multiple crimes committed outside of the City, and it is likely that the Normals collaborated on these with Jones as well as Jones' dissertation research (which itself would now be illegal). They also acquired research specimens from unknown sources - past surveillance footage implies that these sources likely included former Runner and terrorist Faith Connors. Presently, the Normals retain their faculty positions at King Minos, at which the university senate refuses to revoke their tenure. The university faculty need to be put in their place, legislation for which is pending.
Skills: Science, especially biology. Was at one time quite athletic and believed to be capable with weapons. It is unknown how much of this skill has been retained; certainly, her strength is more typical of a woman of her age.
Weaknesses: Showing her age, and increasingly cut off from the rest of the world and scientific community
Likes: Science, teaching, literature, psychology
Dislikes: Unknown, but probably the New City Order and everything it stands for

Affiliation: Unknown, likely NN, possibly Alluvia
Under special surveillance for:
Probable past and likely present associations with New November (NN) and possibly Alluvia;
Possible conspiracy to perpetrate terrorist attacks and/or treason (namely, aiding in an Alluvian takeover of the City)
Appearance: Tends to vary hair length, but is now mostly gray and/or lost, experiments with beard styles frequently, but currently has a full beard. Blue eyes, slender figure, formerly fairly athletic, but his age limits performance now.
Personality: Introverted, wrapped up in his own research, but enjoys teaching. In the past was more extraverted and personable, implying a greater degree of complacency for the world. Monitor this individual closely.
History: Born in the United States and was a member of Vitalia before emmigrating to the City and participating in the early days of Libertas, he, together with his wife Elanor Normal, acquired faculty positions at King Minos University (him in geology, her in biology), and studied paleontology and marine ecology and natural processes of extinction, as well as conducted research into the guiding tendencies of evolutionary lineages predicted by some of Vitalia's findings. Subsequent to the rise of the New City, he has shifted his research from paleontology in general to mass extinctions, and now finally to the geology of asteroids and meteorites, which today occupy most of his time. Their student, Sally Jones, is currently wanted for multiple crimes committed outside of the City, and it is likely that the Normals collaborated on these with Jones as well as Jones' dissertation research (which itself would now be illegal). Skills: Science, especially geology, paleontology, and astronomy. Was at one time quite athletic and believed to be capable with weapons. It is unknown how much of this skill has been retained; certainly, her strength is more typical of a man of his age.
Weaknesses: Showing his age, increasingly cut off from the rest of the world and scientific community, and casting social graces aside

Dislikes: Unknown, but probably the New City Order and everything it stands for
