"I hate this city." Jacob said absently as he gazed out at the pearly white buildings of the dull metropolis. He had left the Hideout for a little walk to clear his head. He'd been stressed lately, his superiors have been working him relatively hard and he just needed a break. Sooner or later someone would come looking for him and scold him back to the hideout.
"I'd prefer later rather than sooner." Jacob said, nearly predicting the scolding he'd be sure to get about how he's endangering the NN or how high the chances are of running into a trigger happy NCO. He knew what the issue was, he knew the risk, and he was prepared to handle it. The sun was soon setting, and it was about time for him to leave, when he spotted two shadows out of his peripheral vision.
"It's about time someone came out to get me..." Jacob said calmly. The shadows just ran at him. The way they were moving uneased Jacob, they were too fast, too sure, like there was another goal on their minds.
"Okay, okay, I'm on my--" Jacob trailed off when he saw what his two persuers were wearing. Black jumpsuits and umpire masks.
"Shit!" He exclaime. Wasting no time, he bolted away from his chasers, ducking and leaping over vents and pipes, hoping to lose them. He didn't. The chasers kept on his tail, leaping and sliding around the obsticles with as much finesse as Jacob had, if not better. Jacob soon came to the edge of the building top he was on, perfect chance for a counter. he thought. One of the figures pulled out a pistol from a holster on his back and had opened fire. Two bullets zoomed past Jacob's ear, temporarily damaging his hearing. That was all the motivation he needed, Jacob took one step back, and leaped off of the roof with as much strength as his pumping adrenaline would allow.
The roof he was aiming for had enough cover to keep out of gunshot view. As soon as Jacob landed, he bent into a forward roll behind an AC unit. The two chasers soon followed and ran behind the AC unit Jacob had hid behind. He wasn't there. The second chaser looked around for where he might be, but he wasn't there. Little did the chasers know, Jacob was behind another side of the AC unit the chasers hadn't looked. With one quick leap, Jacob was on top of the AC, surprising the two chasers. Now was his chance, with those few prescious seconds of oppertunity to preform a hard snap kick in the face of the first chaser. If he wasn't wearing that umpire mask, that'dve broken his nose on the spot. While the first chaser reeled back from the blow, Jacob leaped off of the AC, landed in front of the second chaser, and gave him three quick punches in the face.
The first chaser had recollected himself, and attempted to backfist Jacob as a counter. The runner ducked, grabbed the chasers arm, and gave him a hard side kick in his side, casuing him to stumble a few stepps, and fall off of the building. The second chaser had already recovered and was aiming his pistol straight at Jacob's face. Jacob kicked it out of his hand, sending it sliding half way across the rooftop. The chaser expected this, and charged at Jacob in a full on body tackle, forcing Jacob to his back. The chaser raised its foot and attempted to stomp Jacob in the face, but he rolled out of the way and onto his feet. The chaser continued his assault and let loos a wild barrage of fists and feet at Jacob who was too preoccupied with blocking and dodging to counter.
Jacob blocked one left swing kick, a countering left spinning hook punch, and a right swing kick before he kicked the chaser away, forcing him to stumble back. Jacob saw his oppertunity. He was standing behind a billboard, and at its base was an empty paint bucket. Jacob stuck his foot inside, lifted it, and kicked it at the chaser's head, forcing him to stumble farther back. Jacob continued the assault with two hard straight punches in the chest, one back kick in the stomach, and a knee to the chin. The chaser was dazed, but one quick glance downward saved him. When Jacob noticed it, it was too late. The chaser had retrieved his pistol again, and fired rapidly at Jacob. It was too late, the bullets impacted him with no mercy. His mesh under armor took a few shots, but it soon gave way. Two bullets penetrated his stomach, one in his left shulder, and one in his right shin.
Jacob was forced to his knees, wounded and weary. The chaser walked up to him triumphantly, he had won. Jacob's adrenaline was wearing off quickly, if he was going to survive, he had to think fast. Using the last of his adrenaline, Jacob lauched off of the ground with his good leg, and tackeld the chaser down to the ground, following through with several hard punches to the face, breaking the umpire mask the chaser was wearing, and shedding blood. The chaser had lost consciousness, but Jacob kept going until every muscle in his body burned. When he finally stopped, he rolled off fo the near-dead chaser, and lay on the ground next to him. If a runner was going to come in and scold him back to the hideout... now would have been the perfect time.
