Wow. I'm finally building a character. I'm usually playing an evil part, but I'm inspired by the beauty of Mirror's Edge more than its darkness, so I'm going with NN. I'm designing my character to be a bit of a novice at running, but with some interesting advantages to help balance that lack of experience.
EDIT: Tell me if there's anything about the character I shouldn't include, or need to explain better...
Name: Garrett Hattori
Age: 26
Sex: Male
Appearance
Eyes: Dark Brown, a hint of his Japanese blood showing in the shape
Hair: Black, shoulder length. He washes it regularly and ties it back when training, but not much else. It's clean, but rarely tidy.
Facial hair: None
Height: 5'8"
Clothing: Always wears mostly black clothing, usually with blue detail work. He never wears restrictive clothing, but it's often close to form-fitting, rather than anything baggy. The only exception to this being the outfits he wears when training at Kendo.
The image is from the manga series "Vagabond," but fits the character reasonably well.
Team: NN
As a child, he wanted to join the CPF, to follow in his father's footsteps. When he was 16, a robbery gone wrong at his parents house resulted in his mother being shot in front of him, and caused a fear of guns, which in turn caused him to fail basic training when he tried to become an officer. Becoming a bit of an unstable character after this, he left home. While working full-time, he bounced through various part-time college courses, studying a variety of topics. He consistently showed a natural aptitude for learning, but lacked the focus to complete the courses he's taken.
He has also studied several martial arts, with a similar natural skill, and lack of discipline, to what he demonstrated in his academic pursuits. That is, until he discovered Kendo. Once he has a sword in hand, even a wooden one, his discipline and focus are almost perfect. Of course, in the city, such a pastime is difficult to find lessons for, and so, after his Sensei was locked up on suspicion of being a runner (found armed on a rooftop), he trained alone.
After over a month with no word, he investigated, and found that, despite a lack of evidence, his mentor had been imprisoned indefinitely. At this point, he decided to take matters into his own hands. After contacting New November, he quickly discovers that running seems to trigger the same instinctive focus as his Kendo training...
